The age-up date is the date used to determine the "competition age" of the athletes for the duration of a meet or season. The easiest way to think of this when setting your "Age-up Date" is - the age of the athlete on the age-up date is the age group they will be in for the entire season.
Season Age-Up Dates
For summer league teams, there is generally one date used to determine age for the entire season. This way, an athlete will always compete in the same age group for the duration of the season. It wouldn't be fair to have an athlete in the 9-10 age group all season swimming 25s, who turns 11 one day before the championship meet, and then needs to swim a 50 in the 11-12 group for the championship. Using a season-long age-up date avoids this problem.
Let's take an example -- if your team's age-up date is April 30:
- If little Suzie's 9th birthday is on April 30, she'll compete with 9-year-olds (her age on the age-up date is 9)
- If little Ben has a birthday the very next day -- if he turns 9 on May 1, he'll compete with 8-year-olds (his age on the age-up date was 8)
Season-long age-up dates can be set for an entire Season, found in the Manage Team > Schedule > Seasons tab in the team management console (admin access required).

Meet Age-Up Dates
Found under Schedule > All Meets & Events > Meet Name > Edit. Usually set to be the same as the Season Age-up date, but we offer the meet level date in case there’s a meet that requires a different date.
» Note: The meet age-up date will override the season age-up date if set differently. So if you see athletes displaying incorrectly on the entries screen, it's likely your meet age-up date is not set correctly.
Multi-day (Multi-session) Meets - there is the same concern within the meet as mentioned above - You generally don't want an athlete to swim in a different age group on Saturday than on Sunday because their birthday happens to be on that Sunday. Typically the age-up date would be set to the first day of the meet.
High School Teams - Meet events are not generally limited by age, so the age-up date is not important.
