Athlete Volunteers
While there isn’t an option for an athlete to sign up for a volunteer position from the team site (or for a parent to sign their child up for one), an admin CAN assign an athlete to a job.
Read more about assigning a person to a shift as an administrator: Jobs & Shifts: Assigning a member to a shift.
Student Volunteers
There are only two affiliations in SwimTopia - Athlete (by age group) and Parent. Anyone not competing is considered a "parent." Creating a parent account for this purpose keeps them from affecting your athlete roster count, which could result in a SwimTopia per-athlete fee.
If the family has other athletes competing, you can add her as a "guardian" to the registration: Registration > Click on Registrant# > View/Edit > Add Parent/Guardian (Or you can use the "New Parent" button on the People page to create an account)
If they have an existing athlete account with an email they want to use, remove that email to use it on the parent account. They need to have an email listed to sign up for shifts, or the parents can do it. You can also manually assign them to jobs on the Meet > Jobs tab. If an email is entered, they will receive an activation email to set up a password.
» Note: Click the unsubscribe button on the profile if they don't need to receive team emails. The only time the setting is ignored is when you use “Parents” in your communications, but we suggest only using that group for emergencies.
We suggest creating a “Student Volunteer” Role with applicable permissions set, and assigning these students to the role. You can communicate directly with them, if needed, by typing the Role name in the Send To within Communications.
See our ➞Managing Your People/Roster Help Center article for details on creating parent accounts.
Non-Member / Neighborhood Volunteers
Similar to student volunteers, if you have members of the community who do not have athletes competing, but would like to volunteer, they would need a "parent/guardian" account created with an email, so they can activate their account to sign up for jobs/shifts.
