Can we use our custom domain?
If your team has a custom domain name, you can use it with your team site instead of using the example.swimtopia.com subdomain provided when you signed up (example.teamtopia.com for non-swim accounts).
While you are free to redirect your custom domain to your example.swimtopia.com subdomain if you want to, you can use your custom domain name "natively" without redirection, while maintaining the high level of data security offered by SwimTopia / Team Topia when using Cloudflare’s FREE Universal SSL service.
» Note: Most teams do not want to redirect their custom domain to their example.swimtopia.com/teamtopia.com subdomain. Setting up a free Cloudflare account is required to properly configure a custom domain without redirection, to be used by default with your SwimTopia / Team Topia site.
Cloudflare provides FREE SSL certificates and a secure end-to-end proxy service. This will save you time and money from having to purchase your own SSL certificate. Cloudflare also provides additional features that can speed up the performance of your site, especially outside the United States, and provides additional analytics, threat detection, and mitigation.
We wrote more about this service in our blog post on Enhanced Custom Domain support.
How do I set up a Cloudflare account?
Configuring your domain with CloudFlare does require some additional setup, but you can do it yourself by following our step-by-step Cloudflare setup guide.
Custom domains are supported via Cloudflare to protect the security of password-protected pages and sensitive data collected during registration or other times. As mentioned above, setting up a Cloudflare account is required to properly configure a custom domain without redirection, to be used by default with your SwimTopia / Team Topia site.
All traffic on SwimTopia / Team Topia is encrypted using the secure https protocol. This ensures that no one on the same network will be able to snoop to see your password or other private information.
But first...Can you access your domain registrar account?
You will need to be able to make changes to your domain registrar account, so first verify that you are able to log in to make changes as needed for this process.
If you do not already have a custom domain, you can register a custom domain through one of several economical choices available (listed below).
