This document was prepared by a homeowners association that successfully opened during 2020, and the sole goal of this document is to pass along some of what we learned to others so they can have a fun summer. We take no responsibility, however, for your success or failure in your attempts.
The KCHOA pool opened on May 29th in 2020, six days after our typical Saturday before Labor Day opening date. We opened under phase 1 guidelines from Virginia for lap swimming only, one person per lane. We expect to open the pool on May 22nd in 2021, our typical opening day, under many of the same guidelines we closed out the pool season in 2020. This is because we do not anticipate that enough people will have been vaccinated, and we don't expect we will be able to ask anyone if they have been vaccinated due to HIPA rules. The near on-time opening did not happen in 2020, nor will it happen in 2021 without our Board's full support along with the pool management company – NV Pools. My sincere appreciation goes to each board member and the pool management team for making this possible in 2020. Success is based on a desire on everyone's part to make it happen. The uncertainty in 2020 was significant. I believe the concern in 2021 will be significantly less, based on the history provided in this document.
