Collecting T-Shirt Sizes During Registration (or other per athlete needed data).

Many teams offer swimmers a free team t-shirt or sweatshirt and would like to collect sizes from all of their swimmers.  This can easily be accomplished during the registration process using the Athlete Merchandise Offer section.

We frequently see teams adding a custom question asking for this information, but custom questions are asked per registration, not per athlete, which means this technique may not capture the data in a format that is useful.

The merchandise part of the registration form itself has a section called athlete merchandise offers which will allow you to collect information per athlete.

To get this set up, the first thing you need to do is create your "T-Shirt Size" merchandise offer.  This is done in the Merchandise section under Manage Team > Merchandise > Add Merchandise Item.

Name your item whatever you would like to display during registration and be sure to Save your work.

Now you will want to click on this new merchandise item in order to add your "Options" - which, in this case, will be all of the sizes you will be offering.

Continue adding options for each additional size.  You can re-order your options by dragging the arrows to the far left to sort.

Now you will want to navigate to your registration form, select the merchandise section, check the box to enable this section, and add a new Athlete Merchandise Offer.  Choose your t-shirt size item from the dropdown menu and be sure the check the box to require an answer.

To manage this information, there are two reports you can run.  Reports are found under Manage Team > Reports.  Both reports can be downloaded as a .CSV file so you can further manipulate the data in whatever way is most helpful for your team.

The first report is called Registration Merchandise Orders: Details.  It will display a list of each registration, the swimmer's name, and the size t-shirt they requested.

The second report is called Registration Merchandise Orders: Summary by Item/Option and it will list all of your size options and how many of each option have been requested:

You can collect all sorts of data per swimmer in this way by adding as many athlete items as you would like.  

Other examples include:

• Athlete School Year
• Athlete Cell Phone
• Subdivision
• Number of Years of the Team
