On Saturday, June 1, between 10am and 2pm Central Time, the performance of both SwimTopia and Meet Maestro were impaired and we experienced two outages. The first outage occurred just before 11am Central and lasted approximately 15 minutes. Another outage occurred at 1:20pm Central, which latest approximately 5 minutes.
We understand this service issue has impacted our valued customers, and we apologize to everyone who was affected. In the interest of transparency, we are sharing details about the cause of these outages and the steps we have taken to prevent an event like this from happening again.
The outages occurred due to our primary database server running out of memory. These out-of-memory errors were primarily caused by a sharp increase in the number of concurrent connections to the database.
To prevent or mitigate any future issues, we have more than doubled our server capacity, including a more than twofold increase of the amount of memory available. We have added tools to better audit memory usage in real time, and we are making changes to reduce the number of database connections required to provide our service.
SwimTopia is committed to continually and quickly improving our technology and operational processes to prevent outages. We appreciate your patience and again apologize for the impact to you, your users, and your organization. We thank you for your business and continued support.
